Demo Question 1.
SIMULATION You work as the network administrator at EliteCertify.com. The EliteCertify.com network consists of a single Active Directory domain named EliteCertify.com. EliteCertify.com has its headquarters in London and branch offices in Paris, Berlin, Milan, Madrid, and Stockholm. Business hours at EliteCertify.com are 9:00 A. M. to 5:00 P.M. from Monday through Friday. All network administrators work at headquarters. The EliteCertify.com network has one demand-dial connection named EliteCertify -DD1 between headquarters and the Paris branch office. EliteCertify -DD1 is configured shown in the exhibit. You instruct a network technician named Mia Hamm to perform a backup of the server in the Paris office on Saturday. Mia Hamm is a member of the domain Backup Operators group. The following Monday Mia Hamm reports that she was unable to perform the backup as she was unable to connect to the Paris office. You need to ensure that EliteCertify -DD1 is available at all times whilst also ensuring that the connection will automatically attempt to reconnect if it fails for any reason. How should you configure EliteCertify -DD1? To answer, configure the appropriate option or options in the dialog box. Answer Activate the Persistent connection as the Connection type tab in the Options Tab in the properties window. You also need to set the redial attempts higher than 15 in the Dialing policy tab. Explanation When a demand-dial connection has been created, you can configure it further using the Properties window for the connection. From the Options tab, configure the connection type: either demand dial or persistent. You can also set the dialling policy by specifying the number of times that the calling router should redial if there is no answer and by specifying the interval between redial attempts. In this specific scenario you would activate the Persistent connection so as to have the connection available at all times as well as increase the redial attempt setting in case of receiving no answer from the router. Having a Persistent connection does not preclude the event of connections being severed due to interruptions from a telnet service, etc. Reference: Diana Huggins, Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure Exam Cram 2 (Exam ), Chapter 5 Deborah Littlejohn Shinder, Dr. Thomas W.
